Nearly eradicated from Washington State in the early 1900s, wolves are now gradually returning. Learn more about their recovery in this talk by an ecologist from the University of Washington. This talk will review the history of wolves in Washington, describe their ongoing return to the Pacific Northwest, and highlight new research projects exploring the ecological and economic impacts of their recovery.
Aaron Wirsing, Ph.D., is a wildlife ecologist who studies the ways
that large carnivores can change the lives of their prey beyond simply
killing and eating them. Working along with his students in the Predator
Ecology Lab, he compares the mechanisms that drive predator effects in both aquatic and
terrestrial environments and aims to show underlying similarities
between two seemingly disparate systems.
